Gear Molding
GW Plastics offers full-service capabilities for molding precision
plastic helical, spur, bevel, worm, and insert molded gears. Design
assistance, robotic part removal with custom end-of-arm tooling,
state-of-the-art electronic gear checking/analysis equipment,
and systems for monitoring part weight and dimensions are
available at all GW plant locations.Cluster gears, internal gears and other types of gears that
are difficult to machine economically can be made from plastic
materials.
Plastic gears:
- Can be produced with tolerances to AGMA class 8 and above.
- Have been designed for high load levels for driving applications
of ¾ hp or more.
- Provide engineers an opportunity to design compact drive
trains that weigh less, have fewer parts, run quieter and
require less maintenance than comparable metal gears.
- May be combined with multi-part programs that include
housings, covers and other components designed to work together
as a unit.
- Can be designed for processing in pre-engineered, modular
insert molds that can save 30-40% over the cost of buying
a dedicated mold designed and built from scratch.
- Are used in the appliance, business equipment and automotive
industries.
- Applications include disposable toner cartridges and laser
printers; power seats, mirrors, sunroofs, door locks, power
windows and other motorized drives.
