Gearing
Up With Plastics
Improved materials, designs, and molding techniques are making
relatively low-cost plastic gears more competitive with metal in
higher-load applications. The GW Plastics modular tooling system,
which molds up to AGMA Class 6 spur and helical gears, can cut time-to-market
from 14 weeks for a dedicated tool to seven weeks.
The October 1998
issue of Molding Systems magazine, published by the Society
of Manufacturing Engineers, presented an article titled: Gearing
Up with Plastics that included information on GW Plastics
gear molding capabilities.
