Every November, Mexico celebrates Día de Muertos (or “Day of the Dead”), a multi-day holiday focused on the gathering of loved ones to remember family and friends who have passed away. In keeping with local traditions, Mexicans build elaborate altars and honor the deceased using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed.
Each year, our team in Querétaro, Mexico hosts an altar contest, where employees compete to make the most beautiful and symbolic altar dedicated to someone beloved who passed away. This year’s contest winners were Ivonne Guzman and Luz Nieves, who dedicated their altar to John Galvin, one of GW’s founders. Both team members received an award from the GW Plastics managerial team for their creativity.
Thank you, Ivonne and Luz, for commemorating our founder and reminding us of this beautiful tradition with your dedication and creativity. ¡Feliz día de Muertos!
